I was blessed to grow up in a musical family. I started playing drums in 5th grade to be like “Ringo.” I have had many opportunities to record and travel around the world and have no plans to give it up.
After high school I traveled and recorded with Simple Truth, a pioneering Christian country rock band from Kansas City. We had the opportunity to record albums and travel all over the United States and overseas, including tours to Africa. One interesting highlight was when we were invited to play at the 1974 Ozark Music Festival in Sedalia, Missouri. The crowd and heat became so bad the festival was a disaster. They expected maybe 50,000 people, but had over 250,000 and weren’t prepared. We had to drive our van/trailer through the huge crowd while the big acts were flown in with helicopters – Aerosmith, the Eagles, Blue Oyster Cult, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Bob Seger, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Joe Walsh, America, Charlie Daniels Band, REO, Ted Nugent, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, etc.
I especially enjoyed playing several years with Last Chance Flight, a popular band from Olathe, KS playing original and classic rock music for hundreds of events at clubs and festivals. I was finally able to share the stage with “Ringo” when Last Chance Flight opened for Liverpool, a great Beatles Tribute Band, at the 2014 Olathe, KS Summer Concert Series. I am excited to be able to continue playing with talented friends in Green Shoebox Band.
I have played electronic and acoustic drums. I am currently using a hybrid of my acoustic kit and my Roland Handsonic Percussion Pad, and Roland El Cajon Electronic Cajon that include a full library of drum and percussion instruments and programmed pedals.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT STAN:
- My cousin, Jerry, and I used Green Shoebox as a band name when I started playing drums in Junior High School. As hard as it is to find a unique band name, it was a nice surprise that name was still available after all these years.
- I had a huge afro until I was in the Air Force.
- I designed the original Garmin logo and marketing and we came up with the name in my living room. Now I am blessed to work for such a great company.
