The Green Shoebox Band Story

Green Shoebox Band is a group of musician friends that enjoy sharing a wide variety of music from the 60s through the 2000s.

Get ready for a musical adventure with the Green Shoebox Band! Our group delivers familiar tunes with a fresh twist, ensuring every listener experiences the unexpected and leaves dancing and smiling. Dubbed a “musical rollercoaster” by fans, we pride ourselves on offering something different yet utterly enjoyable. Our motto, “Decades of music. Outside the box.” perfectly encapsulates our approach.

Our live performances have included events for the communities of Olathe, Overland Park, Lenexa, Merriam, Eudora, Independence, Old Shawnee Days, Wellsville Days, Leavenworth County and many popular music venues and corporate/private events around the Kansas City area. The opportunity to choose VIP pre-shows at Starlight Theater before acts such as the Doobie Brothers (2023) and James Taylor (2024), and sold out shows at Aztec Shawnee Theater, are annual highlights.

Sharing music is fun! Especially when you get to spend time with a great friends playing music everyone loves. Our members have recorded and played in various bands around the country and overseas. Stan Adell and R.Lorraine Taylor-Wheaton (RLo) played together with Last Chance Flight (LCF or Larry Campbell & Friends) for many years. They formed in 2019 and have added new friends and instrumentation to develop our unique sound.

Where did the name Green Shoebox Band come from?
When we started the band in 2019, every good name we came up with was already taken. Finally, Stan remembered that when he was in Junior High, he and his cousin had a band called Green Shoebox. GreenShoeboxBand.com domain was still available after all these years, so we grabbed it and started using green as our theme.
